Moses Gates

Vice President, Housing & Neighborhood Planning

Moses Gates is RPA’s Vice President for Housing and Neighborhood Planning, leading the organization’s planning, research and advocacy efforts in affordable housing, economic development, and urban design. He also leads RPA’s efforts to build international partnerships.

Since joining RPA in 2016, Moses has led RPA’s recommendations on affordability, economic development, and livable neighborhoods for the Fourth Regional Plan and authored or overseen several reports on housing policy and neighborhood planning. Prior to joining RPA, Moses was director of planning and community development for the Association for Neighborhood Housing Development, where he led the organization’s housing development policy and planning work and initiated New York City’s first Community Development Fellowship program.

Moses also has worked for New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, as a nonprofit affordable housing developer, and as a licensed New York City tour guide. He is currently a visiting assistant professor at the Pratt Institute and serves on the board of directors for Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City. He has a master’s of urban planning from Hunter College, a bachelor’s in history from the University of Wisconsin, and is the author of the memoir “Hidden Cities” (Tarcher/Perigee 2013).

Rick Gropper

Rick Gropper has over a decade of experience in real estate development throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC. At CPG, Rick focuses on sourcing and structuring transactions using his deep relationships with various partners including investors, lenders, the community and government. Prior to co-founding CPG, Rick was Development Director at L+M Development Partners, one of the largest and most prolific developers of multifamily housing in NYC. At L+M, Rick was responsible for the development and preservation of more than 5,000 units of housing totalling over $1 billion in total capitalization. Prior to joining L+M, Rick worked for a boutique adaptive reuse development firm based in New Haven, CT. He has an undergraduate degree from Connecticut College and an MS in Real Estate Development from Columbia University. Rick serves on the boards of Habitat for Humanity NYC, NYSAFAH 2G and the CHPC Strategic Impact Fund.

Sherry Wang

Sherry Wang is a Partner at The Vistria Group in Real Estate. Prior to joining Vistria, Sherry was a managing director and co-head of the Urban Investment Group at Goldman Sachs. Under her leadership, UIG invested $12 billion in public-private partnerships to create equitable economic development across the United States. Prior to joining the Urban Investment Group, Sherry worked in the Investment Banking division at Goldman Sachs.

Sherry received a B.A. in Economics & Mathematics from Yale University. Sherry serves on the New York Advisory Board of Enterprise Community Partners, and she is on the Board of Directors of the Center for an Urban Future.
